Matthew Price
Mr. Matthew Price is the Director of Bands at Flat Rock Middle School in Tyrone, Georgia.  He joins us from Stockbridge, GA where he was the Director of Bands at Stockbridge Middle School.  In Stockbridge, his ensembles received superior ratings at all competitions and contests entered.  During his two year tenure there, the band grew from 175 to its current enrollment of 210.  Mr. Price was named Teacher of the Month 2 times while at SMS, and he was on the Teacher of the Year Ballot twice.  He is an Honor Graduate from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.  While at CSU, he was a regular performer with the CSU Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Orchestra.  He was also a performer with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Ballet Orchestra.  He has performed with artists like Chris Martin, Principal trumpeter with the Chicago Symphony, Joseph Alessi, Principal trombonist with the New York Philharmonic, John-Bruce Yea, Associate Principal Clarinetist of the Chicago Symphony, and many other outstanding musicians.  He can be heard as a percussion soloist and as a section member on the Summit Recording Label with the CSU Wind Ensemble.   A classically trained pianist, Mr. Price also maintains an active schedule accompanying soloists, churches, college, high, and middle school music programs.   He also maintains an active private percussion studio and is in demand as a guest conductor and clinician.

He has been actively involved in music education for nine years as a private instructor, arranger, and musical consultant.  Students and ensembles under his direction have never received anything less than Superior Ratings at district and state evaluations.  He has worked with students and given master classes at the Columbus State University Music Conservatory, the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus, Jackson, Dutchtown, East Coweta, Columbus, Harris County, and Northside High Schools as well as Stockbridge, Henderson, and Veterans Memorial Middle Schools. In his youth, he was a participant in the Governor's Honors Program on the campus of Valdosta State University, the GMEA All-State Band for five consecutive years, The Jacksonville State University Honor Band and the UGA Janfest Honor Band.  He is a member of MENC, PAS, Phi Kappa Phi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Mr. Price was born in Jackson, GA and has shared a love for performing and teaching music his entire life.   He has always been an advocate for providing students with a healthy arena that promotes each individual's artistic and intellectual growth.  He realizes that circumstances are inherently different for all students, and he works tirelessly to bring out the innate potential in all who enter the music program.

He emphasizes and expects excellence by providing his students with the tools they will need to become outstanding musicians as well as outstanding members of society.

Mr. Price currently resides in Mcdonough, GA with his beautiful wife Seohyun.  He enjoys golf, baseball, movies, and literature.

He is very excited about continuing and enhancing the level of musical excellence at Flat Rock Middle School, and he is thrilled about working with the fine parents and students of this very strong program.
